Wushu Championships

Ian at the inaugural wushu/kungfu world championships @ MBS

It all started with my brother-in-law teaching Ian some Akido steps, then I realised that he not only remembered the steps after a long time, he also love doing  it again and again. Combined with his love for kungfu stuff, we signed him up for wushu classes at the community centre near us. It wasn't easy for him initially, because the instructions were carried out in Mandarin, and the steps were complicated and required a lot of hand-eye coordination. So when he came to me one day, with a gleam in his eye, and told me he wanted to take part in the wushu competition, I had my reservations. But I couldn't bear to say no,so I let him take part, with the mentality of just giving him the exposure and having fun. He did very well that day! He lost balance at one point and that cost him, but we weren't expecting anything, so we were over the moon when he came in third for his age category! Proud of you Ian!
